History of Wordsworth & More
Established in Corvallis Oregon in January 2000 by John Hood-Fysh, Wordsworth & More now delivers custom website design and technical writing services from our office in Albany Oregon to small and medium-sized businesses and government agencies in Oregon’s Mid-Willamette Valley.
Wordsworth & More is operated by John Hood-Fysh. John began his technical writing career in Canada in 1993 by developing a software reference manual, user guide, quick start guide, and help system for a real estate based software application. After John delivered the products, the developer reported that his end-user support and training requirements were reduced by 50%.
John was then approached to develop similar systems for three other applications, including one for Fisheries and Oceans Canada. John was asked by the Ministry of Transportation and Highways (MoTH) in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada to convert a set of paper based policy and procedure manuals into an electronic format. Using innovation and state of the art software tools, he converted the policy and procedure manuals into an electronic format, and provided training for the department staff to allow them to update and maintain the converted files.
John continued to deliver technical writing projects, and as the web became more popular, John expanded his services to include custom website design and began delivering websites to clients in early 2000.
Custom Web Design now encompasses most of our business activity and a fair number of our most recent projects have come from referrals of satisfied clients. Business Philosophy
John firmly believes in a Win Win philosophy.
He asks, “If our working together does not achieve the results
you need, and while doing that does not earn Wordsworth & More
a profit, then why are we trying to work together?”
John works hard to make sure that you end up with more than you expected and John developed Wordsworth & More’s slogan, “At Wordsworth & More, you always get your words worth and more” to reflect that philosophy.
